The Library Board studies library services offered to the community. The board advises the City Council on user policies and future plans for improving library services.

The Library Board shall consist of seven members. Five members shall be citizens at large, one member shall be a resident of a township that contracts with the City of Midland for library services and one member shall be an administrator/employee from the Midland Public Schools.

The duties of the Library Board are as follows:

  1. Advise the City Council regarding written library user policies.

  2. Respond to requests from the library director.

  3. Study and provide recommendations to the City Council on the development of library service plans.

  4. Encourage the use of the library among residents of the service area.

  5. Encourage suggestions and review comments from the public regarding library services.

  6. Report to the City Council annually.

  7. Perform other such functions as the City Council may direct.
