October 16, 2015 - David Keenan, Assistant City Manager, was recently elected to the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association’s (MGFOA) Board of Directors.
The MGFOA, established in 1938, is a professional association of public officials and finance professionals, striving to promote excellence in government finance by providing members with educational opportunities, aiding in the development and promotion of industry standards, and staying abreast of current events that could impact local units of government within the State of Michigan.
“This shows the respect Dave’s professional peers have for his knowledge and judgment regarding municipal finance,” said City Manager Jon Lynch.
Keenan, a 15-year employee of the City of Midland, joins an impressive list of financial services professionals across the state. The board is responsible for guiding activities that unite finance professionals for the purpose of providing effective and professional financial management of public entity resources; to promote and support professional development of its members; and, in partnership with other organizations, promote use of financial and governance best practices in the management of Michigan public entities.
The MGFOA averages over 600 members representing nearly 500 communities. It is affiliated with the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
