Dial-A-Ride to Participate in Statewide Universal Fare Pilot Program

June 1, 2018 – City of Midland Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART) is accepting Universal Reduced Fare Cards, a statewide transportation pilot program aimed at making public transit easier to use for seniors and persons with disabilities.

The program allows seniors 60+ years old and passengers with an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) qualifying disability to utilize a single reduced fare card that will be recognized at participating public transportation providers throughout the state of Michigan. Passengers using the card will not need to fill out any additional paperwork, complete an application, or prove their qualifications for a reduced fare rate when they use a participating transit provider: they simply show their Universal Reduced Fare Card to the transportation provider prior to boarding. Riders will still be required to pay the transit provider’s reduced fare rate when using the card; however, they will not be required to provide any additional information to prove their eligibility for the reduced fare.

Passengers interested in signing up for a Universal Reduced Fare Card should contact Dial-A-Ride at 989-837-6940.

The Universal Reduced Fare Card pilot program is jointly coordinated by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Office of Passenger Transportation, the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council, MASSTrans, and the Michigan Public Transportation Association. More information on the program and a list of participating transit agencies throughout Michigan can be found at
