Planning

The City's Planning Department is dedicated to providing leadership in achieving the public's vision of an ideal community. This is accomplished through the department's responsibilities, which include:

  • Administering City duties with respect to the Federal Flood Insurance Program
  • Assisting boards and commissions involved in planning / development
  • Assisting other City departments, governmental agencies, and the public on planning / community development matters
  • Coordinating development activities affecting city growth
  • Establishing community development objectives
  • Planning, administration, and implementation of the Community Development Block Grant program
  • Preparing development plans and programs
  • Researching and monitoring growth and development within Midland
  • Reviewing and reporting on development proposals that affect growth
