Leaf Collection Updates

2016 Leaf Collection Update
FINAL ROUND
collection will begin November 21, 2016 in heavy item collection AREA B and then will proceed through AREAS C, D, and A.  For further information, please read the Collection Update in the colored box below.  Please read the following for information about how the collection process works.

Fall leaf collection from the street will be announced when there is a significant leaf fall throughout the City. A collection schedule using the Heavy Item and Brush Collection areas A, B, C, and D is used to determine the collection areas for the leaf crews. Leaf collection will begin in area B then proceed to areas C, D, and A.  Residents can rake leaves to the street in front of their home until final curbside collection has been completed for the season in their area.  Raking leaves to the street sooner will not start bulk curbside collection earlier.

Residents can track the progress of leaf collection crews by the updates below, calling the Leaf Collection hotline at 989-837-3405, or watching the MGTV-188 message board (AT&T U-Verse subscribers can watch the MCTV Network through Channel 99).
FALL FREE begins the first Monday in October through the remainder of the yard waste collection season.  During this free period, 40-cent per bag stickers and the annual yard waste bin stickers are not required.  Yard waste bags and bins are collected on your weekly refuse day.

October 21, 2016 Beginning October 24, City crews will begin testing leaf collection equipment in anticipation of the start of our formal curbside leaf collection program. At this time, residents may rake leaves into the street. Remember to leave a one foot gutter space between the leaf pile and the curb.

Once we have experienced a significant leaf fall, we will announce the start of the first round of the fall curbside leaf collection.
September 2016

FALL FREE will begin October 3rd and will continue through the remainder of the yard waste collection season. During this free period, 40-cent per bag stickers and the annual yard waste bin stickers are not required.

Residents may rake leaves to the street until final curbside collection has been complete in their area for the season. Remember to leave at least one foot of clear gutter space between leaf pile and the curb. This allows water to get to the catch basin and will allow a more thorough collection by crews. Raking leaves to the street sooner will not start bulk curbside collection earlier. Curbside collection of leaves will begin after significant leaf fall has occurred city-wide, which is typically late October. For the safety of our crews, avoid putting brush, such as sticks in your leaf piles.
